
The NBA has announced the complete game and broadcast schedule for the 2023/2024 regular season. Per Thursdayâs release, defending champions Denver Nuggets will take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the season opener.
This game is a rematch of last seasonâs Western Conference finals, in which the Nuggets won over the Lakers. Scheduled for Tuesday, October 24, the game will start with the Nuggets raising their first-ever championship banner, marking a historic moment in team history.
The 78th NBA regular season will conclude on April 14, 2024. This will be followed by the 2024 NBA Play-In Tournament from April 16 to 19, with the 2024 NBA Playoffs kicking off on April 20. Ultimately, Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals is slated for June 6.
The regular season schedule provides dates and opponents for 80 out of the total 82 games for each team. Two out of the 82 games are unscheduled and marked as TBD, with undetermined dates and opponents. They are slated to take place during the week of December 4 and will be determined by the results of the Group Play games within the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament. The Group Play games schedule spans from November 3 to 28.
The Phoenix Suns will face the Golden State Warriors in the second opening night game, following the Nuggets-Lakers matchup. Chris Paul, who served as the Sunsâ primary point guard last season before ing the Warriors, will compete against his former team for the first time since the trade.
For Suns small forward Kevin Durant, this matchup marks his return to the Warriorsâ home arena since his departure in 2019.
Meanwhile, Victor Wembanyama is set to debut on October 25 with the San Antonio Spurs under the guidance of coach Gregg Popovich. The 7-foot-4 Frenchman, who was chosen as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft, will challenge the Dallas Mavericks and Slovenian star point guard Luka DonÄiÄ in Dallas.
Other anticipated games include the New Orleans Pelicans facing off against the Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis, as well as the Portland Trail Blazers taking on the Los Angeles Clippers in LA.
