As the NFL is entering Week 2 of the regular season, some teams have provided updates on the injuries suffered by their players. These include the Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys.
Commanders defensive end Chase Young was limited in practice on Wednesday after missing Sunday’s game with a neck issue. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel, who played in Week 1, had limited participation as well. Meanwhile, two offensive starters, offensive lineman Sam Cosmi, who suffered a shoulder injury, and wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who suffered a toe injury, fully participated in practice.
For the Broncos, tight end Greg Dulcich missed Wednesday’s practice due to a hamstring injury. Linebacker Frank Clark, on the other hand, is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks with a hip injury, as reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Thursday. Rapoport emphasized that the injury was not considered serious, and Clark was listed as week to week.
Additionally, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, defensive tackle D.J. Jones and cornerback Riley Moss were limited in practice on Wednesday. Jeudy returned to full practice on Thursday, indicating he was likely to play on Sunday.
Three Jets starters had limited participation on Wednesday, namely offensive tackle Mekhi Becton with a knee injury, offensive tackle Duane Brown due to a shoulder injury and running back Breece Hall, who suffered a knee injury.
Prior to Wednesday’s practice, Jets head coach Robert Saleh revealed the situation, “Injury-wise, Duane, Mekhi and Breece will be limited. No different than a week ago.”
Jets primary quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who suffered a season-ending Achilles tear on the fourth snap of Week 1, said his surgery on Wednesday “went great” via an Instagram story posted Thursday.
“Thank you for all the love and prayers and . And thanks to the [G.O.A.T.] Dr. ElAttrache and his staff for starting me on the road to recovery,” Rodgers said.
On the Cowboys’ side, All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith had a full practice on Wednesday despite suffering an ankle injury. Three players – wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee), offensive lineman Tyler Smith (hamstring) and safety Donovan Wilson (calf) – did not participate in practice.
In addition to Rodgers, there were other notable players who suffered significant injuries in Week 1. Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins sustained a season-ending knee injury. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who suffered a 30-7 blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers, also lost defensive tackle Cam Heyward to an ankle injury and wide receiver Diontae Johnson to a hamstring injury, with both expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
